Frequently Asked Questions
Our sustainable jewellery is lovingly handmade using precious materials and ethically sourced gemstones to ensure that you can enjoy their colour and shine for as long as possible. Of course, these pieces may tarnish over time but don’t worry! With these tips and tricks on how to store and care for your eco jewellery you will be able to preserve their inherent beauty to keep them looking brand new.
Jewellery Care Guide
We recommend storing your eco jewellery pieces in individual air-tight bags with anti-tarnish properties. Try to keep them in a cool, dry place as oxidation can cause dullness and discolouration.
-Avoid moist, warm areas such as the bathroom and direct sunlight for storage.
-Avoid sulfur such as paper, cardboard and cotton filled boxes as these may cause tarnish.
-Make sure to keep all your jewellery pieces separate and keep chains fastened as they may scratch and tangle with each other.
-Avoid mixing with perfumes, creams, body lotions and hairspray.
-Remove before undergoing any physical activity especially anything involving water such as swimming, showering, bathing or any form of rigorous exercise.
As the saying goes, jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
It is much easier to preserve jewellery pieces than to treat damaged jewellery so we recommend regular cleaning to keep them free from tarnish and discolouration.
-To clean your jewellery, take gentle dish soap or non-chemical soap and some warm water
-Avoid dipping the pieces directly into the water but instead apply a non-abrasive microfibre cloth or jewellery cloth (avoid coarse fibres or fabrics such as paper towels, plastic or toilet paper) using up and down strokes and not too much force.
-Be sure to use different parts of the cloth and don’t use circular motions as this can make the tarnish worse.
-If there is a bigger build of tarnish you can use a mild detergent along with a damp cloth to rub into the surfaces of the metal. White vinegar (1/2 cup) and baking soda (2 table spoons) is good for cleaning areas particular affected by tarnish.
-Make sure it thoroughly drives first after exposure to water before returning to air-tight box or bag for storage.
Regular cleaning will stop the sterling silver becoming dull or cloudy. Use a silver cloth or polish waddding
-Keep away from water as this will cause oxidation.
-Avoid using any harsh chemicals when cleaning
-Make sure to keep in air tight container away from warmth and moisture.
Dip a soft lint-free cloth into a bowl of warm water and soap and gently apply to your vermeil jewellery piece.
-Keep away from abrasive materials when cleaning and make sure to rinse well after any exposure to water.
-Don’t dip directly into water when cleaning as this may cause fading.
To keep your gemstones sparkling and attractive simply take a soft brush (avoid using toothbrushes) and scrub gently with dish soap and warm water. Once finished, rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth.
-Avoid soaking with water as the gems are naturally absorbent and it may cause a dulling effect.
-Keep them away from harsh chemicals common in cosmetic products such as perfumes and body lotions and store in a cloth-lined pouch.
-When removing your gemstone jewellery, avoid pulling them off by the gemstone which may stretch the metal and making the setting less secure over time.
